Alert Commander App Reviews

Great App BUT…..

It really needs to remember the window layout when you close it so that you dont have to rearrange the window size, location, and the layout of the cameras every time that you open the app. This is annoying for me esspecially because I like to have the cameras on an external monitor, but every time I have to reopen the app or restart the computer, I have to move it over to the other monitor, resize the window, and change it to the camera view mode I want. Almost every other app for mac remembers the window layout. It is a very easy thing to implement. :)

Crappy app!

This app is pretty much horrible for the Mac. I have used the cameras on my Windows computer for quite some time and never had a problem. This on the Mac is just HORRIBLE and shouldnt even be something they released to the public. I would be embarassed if I was Logitech. The app continuously crashes, doesnt see the cameras, and a myriad of other things. TAKE THIS DOWN AND FIX IT!!! Especially after spending thousands on the cameras.

Same as everyone else

I have the same issues as loads of other people, the app finds the camera and does everything other than Live View. So, I installed it on another Mac I have and Live view works! What im guessing is that this is some kind of Video Card graphics software glitch, its not able to support all the different video cards that Apple has included in all the various Macs that can run this software. The computer that does work is a mid-2008 Mac Pro tower running 10.8, the one that does not is a 27” iMac from 2011 running 10.8 as well. Logitech needs to have more Mac beta testers IMO.

POOR MAC APP; NEED PC FOR SETUP & LIVE VIEW

DO NOT PURCHASE LOGITECH SYSTEM UNLESS YOU HAVE A PC FOR SETUP. The PC version works well but Mac app is poorly done. Cannot fully set up the system with this app. Once system established--using PC version--the Live View still does not function on app. Its hard to believe that its been a year since this app was last updated, and the focus was installing support for other languages before they had it working in English.

Not working on my MacBook

Does this software need to be updated to work on Mavericks? If so then please make it so… Note the program opens and finds connected cameras but doesn’t display live video feeds and doesn’t show files for playback.

About Time!

First off, About fracking time Logitech released a native Mac app instead of requiring Mac users either a) run a Virtual Machine with their Windows software or b) pay $80/year for full web access. App locks up occasionally and some settings seem to magically reset themselves. Other that that, it functions as advertised. Wish they would maintain it though. A year since the only update they have done and the software is already looking dated. Lacks some of the newer OS integration. Upgraded from 1 star though.

Bad App

Software does an automatic search… of course it doesn’t find my cameras. There isn’t an option to manually add cameras in. A complete waste of time. Should be removed from the Apple App site.

Horrible Software and the cameras die over and over

After a home theft I took the advice of a friend who bought this system and is an avid Mac user and took the plunge - 4 700 series cameras for outside viewing - just plug and play Right? After a year in use I have had nothing but problems - the app has no decided it can find my cameras, display the pop up motion alerts but when I try to view a single or all 4 cameras from the app nothing but a spinning circle - NO VISIBILITY. Add to that I just was on the phone with logitech for an hr to replace my 4th camera - thats right - each one died within months and one was a DOA. Great Concept can work fine for months then failure. Hardwire systems are expensive if not prewired and look terrible if you cant hide wires- but they work flawlessly.

Needs an update

It used to work ok a while back. But one of the OSX updates must have broken it. It crashes for me usually within minutes on OSX 10.9.3. Logitech, can you please provide an updated version that fixes this apparently common problem?

Update?

When will they update this software so we can run more then just 6 cameras!!!!

Disappointed

I installed this security system in my home. I works well when it works, but daily I am having to reset my wifi. I have high speed cable internet and even purchased a better modem. I still knocks my internet offline. I love the app as well as the cameras. I enjoy the option to hear or not to hear. I will change my rating to 5 stars if someone can explain how to keep my cameras and wifi going without getting knocked off!

don

waste of time. I had to uninstall. Does not work. Does not find any cameras.

Crashes constantly on Yosemite

Ever since I upgraded to OS X 10.10 the commander software constantly freezes up where I have to force quit it. Come on Logitech, this has been out for several years now and you have done ONE update to the software. I would have expected way better service from a large company like Logitech.

Needs an update

For all the reasons mentioned in the review section and the fact that the last update was Nov, 2012… Would it be fair to request some improvements so that the Alert Commander runs without so many crashes, freezes and glitches? Afterall, it is 2015!

Logitech appears to have given up on this software

When it worked - the software was great, easy to insatll and configure, and did everything i needed it to. Unfortunately they have not updated this app in 3 years, and it no longer works with Yosemite, (well, it works for 5 minutes then crashes)…

Worthless

Complete worthless piece of crap. Crashes CONSTANTLY. Has rendered my security cameras utterly unusable. Support is abysmal and largely nonexistent.
