Alert Commander App Reviews

!!! Logitech security PLM please read !!!

Dear Logitech Product Manager Your app is quite good but outdated. Please conside updating your application using WebRTC codecs or equivalent. QTKitServer is not appropriate for MacBook pro and is a big energy pig Moreover QT does use many threads killing batteries and making Macbook pro to use CPU fans. WebRtc would bring you Mac / Linux and Windows compatibiity with just one implementation.

Where is Yosemite support ?

Too bad that this powerful application is not supporting Yosemite OS. Depsite what is written above ( OS X 10.6 or later , I kept a creen capture for misleading advertizement ) Help desk continuously denies any new Application update . Device is quite expensive to purchase. and supposed to bring high end quality video ( HD ) I planned to deploy it further and make use in another site. But I will look after something other . Looks like updates have been frozzen in 2012? . I would not recommend.

OS X upgraded to El Capitan

Alert Comander seems to become unstable with the newly installed OS X El Capitan…. camera is lost …. appllication fall down …. Alert comander worked quite fine since years on IMac. Nothing except the upgrade to the new OS X Version has been changed in network / hardware / software. Some else got the same toubles ?

Not working properly

I cant my cameras display or video playback! needs to be fixed.

Where have all my cameras gone?

installed after the BS of goig through Apple store - hate that - then all my cameras disappeared - where are they - I can ping them but cannot see them in Alert Commander - BIG HELP!

Definately worth the wait

I have been using the commander on the Windows platform on my Mac with parallels, with many glitches, but now all i have to say is this is GREAT, the usability is very simple, my only question "why did it take so long" anyway a definite "recommend" from me, the Alert system has been great with razor sharp images, unbelivable microphones, sturdy camera construction, far surpassing other consumer camera systems, but was always really hard to use on a Mac, this new software really opens up a whole spectrum of people i can highly recommend the logitech alert camera system to. Thanks logitech. Robert, in Calgary Alberta

Wonderful! Finally Alert Commander on Mac!!

About Time LogiTech.. and Thank You….So far so good… Running OS 10.8.2… (try a permissions repair if having troubles with a crash; I had one crash, did a perm repair and restart)… All is well... All functions working flawlessly at this time… Recommend setting up and managing cameras as a new site from your Mac as your previous camera security key was likley set up on a PC or Windows boot drive and you may have not written down or been aware of such camera security key… You can also reset you cameras quicky if this is an obstacle to your set up. Anyway… Enjoy

I

Logitech, Although it took a while and you kept the info on the down low I am impressed with the first offering out of the gate for the Mac. I am running on OSX 10.8.2 with no issues. Your attention to detail and what you delivered in terms of features is spot on. Everything I needed. Bravo! Now I can finally remove Windows from my home setup.

Amazing! - Finally here for the Mac

Worked flawlessly, better than ever. Thank you logitech for this amazing app. A+ great job.

VERY GOOD!

Works perfect for me. Maybe soon i can view cams live view on iPhone and iPad over local network next? Verses internet only.

Not so fast. This is Ok but...

Long overdue app from Logitech for Mac users. Using 10.8.2... -Crashed on intial install when setting up the storage location. Had to reboot the computer for it to find the cameras a second time. - Storage can not see more than 10 GB fre space on a 500GB drive. -Reformatted drive, same problem. Same issue with a second internal drive & a NAT drive. - On launch it is stuck asking me if I want to manage my site or a different one. Cant it default to a site as in the windows App, specially if I only have one site? Im concerned if there is a power outage and the computer auto restarts. The app will be useless unless there is someone there to hit the OK button - Can writte to a network attached drive (good- better than the Windows app) BUT will not write to the drive if the app is not running - COME ON!!!

Great, but...

I too have been waiting a long time for this to come out for Mac. So far so good. Only problem so far is that it seems the app prevents my iMac screen from turning off or the screen saver to start after the specified time. Dont really want the screen on 24/7, would like to be able to wake the screen to the Alert Commander like I was able to do in Windows.

Am I the only one missing sound?

Been waiting for this since I switched to Mac earlier this summer. So far it does everything that it did on my PC except play sound. There is no sound in live view or in my recordings. When I go to the website, I get sound in both the live view and recordings. When the App launches, sound is defaulted to the lowest setting, but there is still nothing once I slide the bar all the way up. Other than that, I love having this ability on my Mac, finally. ****Update**** Didnt realize I had to click on the live video feed of my only one and only camera to get the sound. Something I didnt have to do when I used the PC version. Got sound, given 5 stars now!

Super, worth the wait!

This is a better interface then the Windows version. I love it. Plus, the Mac is just a better machine at handling the video without delays and lockups. Thankyou Logitech for a great job.

Bugs on OS 10.8.2 …not as reliable when running on Windows

I was really excited when Logitech finally had the program running on MAC computers but there are still fixes that need to be addressed by Logitech for the program to be as reliable when running on Windows OS. The program sometimes doesnt start when you open it and the video brightness and contrast on your camera has to be adjusted all the time. Even on auto, its not adjusting well with the changes in lighting ( day and night ).

Finally

It took Logitech an awful long time to release this software but its here and it works at least as well as the PC counterpart. To be fair the product packaging from Logitech clearly states it as a PC only product, but in this age where multi-OS users are the norm, a top tier hardware manufacturer such as Logitech should Mac, PC and Linux equally. The Mac version, IMHO, does have a superior interface because it is cleaner and has a less bland color scheme and also because of the ability to pop camera windows off and onto the desktop. Overall this software makes the 750e/700e cameras from Logitech an even better product.

GARBAGE!!

I do not know how there can possibly be so many great reviews of this product. Check out Logitechs own support forums. IT DOES NOT WORK! Installs great, discovers all the cameras great but will not display any video from any camera. This is a known problem by Logitech and they hae not fixed it or communicated a fix. Im going to continue using the Windows version. It reallt makes me angry when companies release a product that does not work.

Works Then Doesnt work at all

I downloaded the app a couple of days ago, got my cameras working with it, then it randomly started wigging out. ( I Am a pro Mac User) Now I cant even open the app. I tried reinstalling, Rebooting,…ext. Untill they get this fixed. Its worthless!

Finally here for the Mac but with issues

Its nice that Logitech FINALLY wrote this software for the Mac so I dont have to run it on a PC or VM of Windows anymore. However, the software is not without its quirky issues. 1. If you have the Alert software running for awhile it tends to hang up where the video displays for the cameras will disappear in the Alert window. The cameras still work and even the recording is still being taken and downloaded to the Mac but you have to force quit the Alert Commander software and relaunch it for the cameras to display inside the software again. 2. Not so much a glitch but more of a "why in the world would they right it this way" kind of thing. When you launch the software it asks you to choose a camera site even if you only have one site to choose from. This is a waste of time and an inconvienence if you have the software auto launching upon login. Seems to me that if you only have one camera site then it should just launch to that site and if you actually have more than one site, then make you choose. Overall I like the Mac version enough to give it 3 stars but if theyd fix the two items above it would be a MUCH better app.

Won

Unfortunately, evidently you need to purchase OTHER Logitech cameras (non-USB) for this app to work. It will not recognize my perfectly functional $120 Logitech webcam, which is all I need as a security camera. Unless Im missing something…?
